Licensed across Colorado, based in Durango

I’m Peter Pritchard, owner of Animas Mountain Mortgage. My office is in downtown Durango, but my Colorado license covers the whole state, and I’ve helped buyers and homeowners from Telluride to the Denver metro and Colorado Springs. As a broker, I compare loan options from multiple lenders instead of offering one company’s programs.

If you live outside Southwest Colorado, you don’t need to visit the office. We can talk by phone or video, you sign documents electronically, and you close at a title company near you and the property. Virtual closings are also available with advance notice, for example if you will be out of the country at closing.

How Colorado markets differ

Mountain resort towns like Telluride often involve second homes, jumbo loans and condo buildings that a lender has to review before approving the loan.

The Front Range, from Denver to Colorado Springs, has more condos, newer subdivisions and a large military community, so FHA, VA and condo financing come up often.

Rural Southwest Colorado includes many areas eligible for USDA loans, along with wells, septic systems and acreage that some lenders handle better than others.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to live near Durango to work with you?
No. My Colorado license covers the whole state. Clients outside Southwest Colorado work with me by phone, email and video, sign documents electronically and close at a title company near them and the property. Virtual closings are also available with advance notice, for example if you will be out of the country at closing.

What is the difference between a mortgage broker and a bank?
A bank offers its own loan programs. A broker compares programs from multiple lenders, helps you choose the one that fits, and manages the loan through closing.
